The Wild are going to have a shooting program for the kids to work on shooting on their own each week. The program will be for the kids to achieve a goal of at least 1,500 shots by the end of February. Parents will have to help keep track of the number of shots completed.
All kids reaching the 1,500 shot milestone will be invited to a special party together with the shooters from the Sabres for all their effort.
The number 1,500 shots over 3 months could be broken down something like this:
1512 shots = 42 shots/session x 3 sessions/week x 4 weeks/month x 3 months (Dec, Jan, & Feb)
Rules:
1) Hockey shots cannot interfere with completing regular school work or reading minutes.
2) To get the most benefit for technique and coordination/strength development, use only regular size ice-hockey pucks; no balls. ( i.e., black / blue pucks)
3) To benefit technique and coordination, only wrist shots, backhand shots, and snap shots can be counted toward goal.
4) Shots at practice do not count.
All players are automatically credited 50 shots from the 12/8 practice. Please be sure to record this on your calendar. Some of the kids will work harder if we introduce a bit of competition with this, and so with competition there will be a special prize for the player with the most shots at the end of the year party.
Please turn in your total number of shots to Suzy at the end of each month. Good luck, have fun, and go WILD!
