Congratulations to the Bantam B2 White Team for winning the District 3 Championship on Saturday afternoon by beating the Wayzata Yellow Team 3-2 in a tight overtime game.
The Maple Grove Bantam B2 White Team finished regular season with the best record in the District 3. They finished the season with a 13–2–1 record. Due to some early season penalties the team failed to get a few Fair Play Points and dropped to 2nd Place in the final standings. The team was seeded #2 for the District 3 Tournament that started on Saturday February 16th.
GAME #1 – Their first test was against the Armstrong-Cooper team. As our team found out in this first game, teams come ready to play in the District Tournament. GAME #2 – Their next game was against Wayzata Royal. Again Wayzata also came to play. Maple Grove got the first goal of the game scored by Alex Bare and assisted by Brandon Eklund. However Wayzata came back with a goal at the end of period one to tie the game. Both teams skated hard through the second period and both got great goaltending with no one scoring in the first 10 plus minutes of the period. At the 4:22 mark Wayzata took a 2–1 lead. Less then a minute later at the 3:39 mark Maple Grove came back and tied the game 2–2 with a goal by Zach Gardner and assisted by Reid Mordhorst.
