The Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey websites are key resources for coaches, containing information on:
All youth hockey coaches in Minnesota and the rest of the country are required to attend a series of clinics before they are eligible to coach. The USA Hockey web site lists upcoming clinics and provides contact information for District Coach-in-Chiefs.
We encourage all coaches, assistant coaches, managers, and parents to check out the Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey web sites.
Coaches are required to have:
1) USA Hockey CEP Cards on file with OMGHA indicating that they are current on training. (Click here for MN Hockey Information on CEP)
2) Completed Background Check form (Click here to download) every year.
Please complete them as ASAP prior to each year coaching.
An on-line database of OMGHA coach CEP and form status is being updated... check back soon.
Coaches,
I have been to several rinks lately and have observed a few coaches with their Helmets on, however, the chin strap is not snapped into place. On Saturday night, it was a 8U coach I spoke with. While they are less likely to get hit or fall with the younger kids, in the event there is any kind of injury on the ice and the coach does not have the helmet strapped, USA Hockey insurance will be voided for the team.
Thank You,
Gene Ferrel
